For Solo Tenor Horn and Piano. A personal work inspired by building a first home in the Flourish estate on Brisbane’s outskirts. Described by an adjudicator as “part Disney, part musical theatre, and part gorgeous.”

Beginning serenely with harmon-muted cornets and a muted euphonium counter-melody (a tribute to Welsh euphonium player Nigel John), the piece takes a dramatic turn with sharp, Danny Elfman-esque interjections, a powerful bass-driven statement, and a rousing band-wide climax — before returning to its soft, reflective opening.

A tribute work written in memory of Scott Fixter, life-member and back row stalwart of the Brisbane Excelsior Band, and dedicated to his wife Jaime Fixter in recognition of her courage and tireless cancer research fundraising.
A soft, reflective piece opening with flugel horn, heroically carried by the back row, with soprano cornet interjections and a gentle nod to “Colonel Bogey” — Scott’s signature street march as Drum Major.
