Faithful Mercies

A hymn arrangement of ‘Blaenwern’ written for the Brisbane Excelsior Brass Band.

After a gentle introduction we hear the theme passed around from horns, to a flugel/trombone quartet ending with a whimsical muted cornet section before a recapitulation of the opening motif. We head to a euphonium/baritone led melody with obligato from a cornet and a horn before a rousing end to the 2nd reiteration of the theme. We end as quietly as we start, with the horn and baritone playing on the triad theme of the melody, echoed by the soprano and repiano cornet.
